Folio 253v: Consul & Cte. of British Factory to Earl of Egremont. Enumerating their grievances and for his help. They particularly complain that they are not allowed to supply wine for the Royal Navy, which is contracted to the Alto Douro Wine Co., which also imports into England large quantities of wine via Guernsey, thus evading duties, and of the new 2% surtax.
Date and place: 1762 Apr 6 Oporto.
