Folio 249: Lord Tyrawly to Earl of Egremont. His plan of defence has been approved, and he is ready to go to Abrantes when Portuguese Army has concentrated there. Colonel O'Hara has gone to the North to supervise defence measures there, and Col. Pattison is checking on the Portuguese artillery and stores. The Spaniards still remain inactive on the frontiers, and the Portuguese `keep up a noble spirit in all ranks of people.' Count of Oeiras is being outwardly polite about the delay in the arrival of the English troops and stores, but he is clearly very disappointed by it.
Date and place: 1762 Apr 15 Lisbon.
