Folio 108: W. Pitt to Earl of Kinnoull. Acknowledging ff.51-61. He is to inform Count of Oeiras that King George II will most emphatically stand by Portugal in case of a rupture with France, but cannot exactly specify what military and naval help will be sent as that depends on campaigns in progress. Exhorts King of Portugal to place his army and navy in readiness. He is to evade the demand for the restitution of the French ships taken at Lagos in the politest way. Desires more information on the commercial problems. Encloses papers relating to operations in the East Indies.
Date and place: 1760 May 30 London.
