Folio 55: Earl of Kinnoull to W. Pitt. Lengthy and confidential conversation with Count of Oeiras on Portuguese formal request for restitution of French warships taken at Lagos, which they do not really expect to be complied with. Jesuit plots and machinations, and danger of an attack by France on Portugal. French reasons for disliking Oeiras. French ambassador and Papal Nuncio both dislike the latter.
