Folio 5: `Separate Instructions' for the care of Kinnoull. Is to make `the most serious representations' over the grievances of the British Factory of Oporto of the breaches of their treaty privileges resulting from the action of the Wine Co. of the Alto Douro. Is also to demand that the Judge-Conservator's powers shall be restored if he finds they have been abridged. He is likewise to press for the restoration of the money confiscated from Humphrey Bunster in May 1755, papers concerning which are enclosed. If the British merchants in Portugal raise any other points, he is to refer them to E. Hay, to take whatever steps may be necessary.
