Description

Folio 93: E. Hay to W. Pitt. Continued complaints of English merchants at Oporto against the Wine Co. of the Alto Douro. New and heavy tax being levied on shipping to pay for the erection of six lighthouses on the Portuguese coast. Requests instructions on whether he should protest about this. Disgrace of four High-Court judges, including the Judge-Conservator of the British Factory for reasons unknown. Duke of Lafoes better. Christening of the newborn son of the Princess of Lichtenstein. Corpse and effects of late B. Keene sent to England in H.M.S. Greyhound on 12 [Mar.].
