Folio 63: E. Hay to W. Pitt. Widespread rumour of plague in Portugal unfounded. Arrival of Rio de Janeiro Fleet with treasure amounting to about 9 million cruzados. D'Ache's French squadron called at Rio on its way to the East Indies. Five English East-Indiamen called at Bahia. Benjamin Keene hopes to leave for England very soon via Lisbon, but `his health seems so indifferent that I doubt whether he will be able to perform the journey.'.
