Folio 292: A. Castres to H. Fox. His long and confidential interview with the Visconde de Ponte de Lima, and latter's advice to Spanish royal family that Spain should stay neutral. Danger of Spain joining France, if, as expected, latter offers `Minorca in one hand and a tender of Gibraltar in the other.' Forthcoming departure of the French ambassador and arrival of new Austrian Ministers.
Date and place: 1756 Aug 4 Lisbon.
