Folio 288: E. Hay to H. Fox. Arrival of the privateer Josepha with a French prize Marianne from Martinique. Has released French prisoners to French Consul on the latter's promise to reciprocate, as was the practice in the last war. Will do the same regarding interrogation of prisoners as was practised then. The Portuguese government is preparing a new Customs tariff on the excuse the old one has been burnt. Five Portuguese ships left for the Maranhâo-Para.
