Folio 109: G. Crowle to C. Amyand. Departure of the fleets for the Rio de Janeiro and Maranhão-Para. Latter is now a `very improving colony, and only lately attended to', abounding in `coffee, cocoa, sugar, tobacco and cotton, and all the spices of the East Indies.' Dispute with Spain over frontier readjustments in S. America. Drought still continues, threatening widespread misery.
