Folio 342: A. Castres to Earl of Holdernesse. King Joseph's assurances of his fidelity to the Anglo-Portuguese Alliance. Although Carvalho's attitude is very guarded, Castres is more than ever convinced `that this Court will avoid an embassy by all the means imaginable' and that De Bachi's stay may not last long.
