Folio 98: A. Castres to Earl of Holdernesse. Carvalho's illness sole reason why Burrel's lawsuit not yet finished but he has been assured this will be done as soon as Carvalho is well again. Death of Frei Gaspar, through whose influence the Dukedom of Aveiro was finally awarded to the Marquis of Gouveia. French are annoyed with Carvalho, whom they blame for the fact that a Portuguese ambassador has not yet been appointed to Paris.
