Folio 117: A. Castres to Duke of Newcastle. His evaluation of the contenders for the post of Secretary of State, among whom Carvalho is strongly backed by the Jesuits. A Judge named Pereira Fidalgo has been appointed to succeed Andrade as Envoy in England and Castres hopes he will prove an agreeable choice.
