Folio 93: A. Castres to Duke of Bedford. Death of Father Carbone, a Neapolitan Jesuit and confidential adviser to King John for 25 years. A man of outstanding ability and integrity, his loss is lamented alike by Portuguese of all classes and by foreigners. Encloses copy of his memorial on the seizure of the Pretty Betsy (f.95) which he will present soon.
