Folio 165: B. Keene to Duke of Newcastle. Encloses copy (f.170) of his letter to Valparaiso on the preliminary peace project, and of an intelligence report from Madrid (f.172). Macanaz now out of favour with both Spanish and Portuguese courts. Latest developments at the Court of Madrid as learnt through the Queen of Portugal and Count Rosenberg. Details of an alleged quarrel between the King of Spain and the Queen-Dowager there.
