Folio 120: J. B. Parker to Duke of Newcastle. General wish for peace in Spain. Exchange of prisoners-of-war proceeding at San Sebastian. In view of the approaching peace, which seems likely, he asks Newcastle to use his influence to get him appointed Consul at Madrid in such an eventuality, as he could not possibly live on his salary if sent back to his original job as Consul at La Coruña. While admitting there will probably be many applicants for the Madrid post, he stresses his own exceptional qualifications.
