Folio 125: Charles Compton to Lord Carteret and Duke of Newcastle. King John has had two more seizures. Interview with Azevedo Coutinho and latter's bitter complaints about further infractions of Portuguese neutrality by Royal Navy, and particularly by Capt. Geary of H.M.S. Squirrel at Madeira. King John V expects satisfaction for this insult and that an example will be made of officers who disobey the Admiralty orders to respect Portuguese neutrality. Forwards copies of relevant papers (ff.127-137). Requests instructions. Forwards copies of correspondence from Cayley (ff.138, 139).
