Folio 262: J. B. Parker to Duke of Newcastle. H.M.S. Rye due to sail tomorrow for England `to convoy near 40 sail of merchant ships loaded with wine from hence.' Latest military and naval intelligence from Spain. Departure of H.M.S. Boretta, and Oporto governor's arrest of her midshipman and three sailors as a reprisal for Spanish sailors taken in the Franco-Spanish prize (f.250). Has requested Lord Tyrawly to secure their release. Galician privateers active off Viana do Castelo. Need for H.M.S. Boretta or another sloop to protect British trade. Submits bill for £469 for intelligence services, which he hopes will be honoured.
