Correspondence between Newcastle and Carvalho over Portuguese apprehensions of a British attack on Brazil, and Newcastle's assurances that nothing of the kind was intended. Portuguese are still apprehensive. His interview with the Secretary of State. Naval engagement with the French in the Mediterranean.
