Folio 180: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Latest news from Cayley and Parker. Repeats need to send a large convoy urgently from Britain owing to `the great want we are in here of all sorts of English goods,' and the danger that the Dutch and the French will take over the trade. Loss of a packet-boat and need to improve this service. His evaluation of the twists and turns in Portuguese foreign policy and his conviction `that if they once see us heartily embarked in this war, they will stick firmly to their old allies.'.
Date and place: 1740 July 30 Lisbon.
