Folio 347: Sir John Norris to Duke of Newcastle. He can no longer cooperate with Lord Tyrawly, whom he cannot trust as interpreter and who is too pro-Portuguese. Sends copies of his correspondence with Secretary Mendonça (ff.350-59). He has strongly and clearly urged that the Court of Portugal should consent to an armistice with Spain. King of Portugal has reluctantly agreed that Norris should return eight warships to England as ordered by George II. Encloses copies of his correspondence with Tyrawly (ff.363-71).
