Folio 279: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Is reluctant to intervene and demand restitution of 175 contraband gold coins seized from an English merchant ship in June 1733 and consigned to Mr Chalié. The demand should have been made at the time, to have any chance of success; and the indiscretion of the English merchants in publicly boasting about the amounts of gold they send home, merely invites seizures of this kind.
Date and place: 1734 Apr 17 Lisbon.
