Folio 173: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Is very reluctant to take up the case of Miguel Vianna, as ordered, since he, like Gabriel Lopes Pinheiro, alias Pedro Fortes (see ff. 75, 77), is a Portuguese Jewish merchant at London, lying under a sentence of the Inquisition. No redress can be expected from any diplomatic approach, nor is it consistent with Tyrawly's dignity to become involved in the complaints of these dubious individuals.
Date and place: 1732 May 23 Lisbon.
