Folio 161: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Portuguese have confiscated arms found in ship's boat of H.M.S. Gibraltar, and four sailors from H.M.S. Lively (f.124) are still imprisoned. If this continues `there will be absolutely an end of all remittances, gold-dust, bars, moedas and diamonds to England, and consequently of the Balance of Trade.' His protests to Mendonça Corte-Real produce good words but no affirmative action.
Date and place: 1732 Mar 20 Lisbon.
