Folio 108: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. Assures him that his remonstrances to Portuguese Court on behalf of the Factory have been made `in the most moderate terms possible.' Court have given orders to stop these insults, but the sailors are being insulted worse than ever. Two English merchants have left altogether. Still hopes for a transfer to Turin or elsewhere.
Date and place: 1731 Aug 3 Lisbon.
