Description

Folio 83: Charles Compton to Duke of Newcastle. Arrest and imprisonment of Capt. Olny of H.M.S. Lively and some of his men, for the boat's crew firing on a hostile mob. Protests to Secretary of State and son have produced no satisfaction. Has informed Lord Tyrawlyat Caldas, and now sends away the packet-boat which cannot wait longer for the overdue Portuguese reply (cf. f.81).
