Folio 47: Lord Tyrawly to Duke of Newcastle. His own and Compton's efforts in the affair of the counterfeit Admiralty passes, which seem to be mainly the work of Irishmen at Cork. Mendonça Corte-Real has been most helpful in getting the guilty ones imprisoned; butTyrawly suspects he will not be so cooperative if Portuguese subjects are also concerned in this counterfeiting, as he suspects. Objects to the Admiralty dealing direct with Compton, and advocates all such matters should be handled exclusively through Newcastle and himself. Encloses copies of relevant correspondence (ff.51-53).
Date and place: 1731 Feb 8 Lisbon.
