Folio 261: Duke of Newcastle to Sir John Norris. King entirely approves of his `prudent and steady conduct', in rejecting Portuguese requests for more active naval support. King has told Tyrawly to cooperate with him (Norris) as his views are the right ones, and they must revert to the joint-representation method in their interviews with Mendonça Corte-Real, even if they present `their papers to him separately at such interviews. Similarly, they should interview the King of Portugal jointly and not separately. Is sorry that Norris is so uneasy in his present situation but reassures him of the King's entire approbation of his services.
