Folio 154: Lord Harrington to Lord Tyrawly and Sir John Norris. Approves their conduct in negotiations with Mendonça Corte-Real. King is stalling on giving a direct answer to Portuguese request for more help if Spain attacks by land, until after the envoy Azevedo'sarrival; but he does not think it in the least likely any such attack is intended. King will be glad to join with France in mediation if it is proposed to him in the proper manner by the Kings of Portugal and Spain, `but H.M. cannot himself propose it, after his good offices have been already offered and declined.'.
