Folio 118: Duke of Newcastle to Lord Tyrawly and Sir John Norris. Reports from Keene at Madrid show that Spaniards have been greatly impressed by dispatch of Norris's fleet, and have disclaimed any intention of attacking Portugal. King John V must be dissuaded from attacking Spain and told he will get no help if he does. As the signal service in sending this fleet needs some acknowledgement, they are to press for redress of East India Co.'s grievances (f.122) and for Protestant worship for the Factory at Oporto (f.124). Rough draft, with alterations and deletions.
Date and place: 1735 June 12 London.
