Folio 63: Duke of Newcastle to Lord Tyrawly. King orders Tyrawly to take cautious and polite soundings through Mendonça Corte-Real, as to what King John V's present policy is with regard to the present situation of affairs in Europe. He is to stress King George's zeal for Anglo-Portuguese alliance and to hope that King John will not enter into any other entangling alliance. He is especially to ascertain `what terms the Courts of Portugal and Spain are with each other' but without giving cause of umbrage to Spain.
