Folio 61: Duke of Newcastle to Lord Tyrawly. Sends copy of a memorial (wanting) from the Envoy of the States-General on the abuses practised against Dutch and English subjects by the Farmers of the Royal Tobacco monopoly in Portugal, and against the Portuguese Customs officials at Belem. At the request of the States-General, King authorizes Tyrawly to cooperate with the Dutch minister at Lisbon in protesting against these abuses `so far as they shall appear to you to be contrary to the Anglo-Portuguese Treaties.'.
