Folio 17: Duke of Newcastle to Lord Tyrawly. King is pleased with his conduct, but does not believe there is any serious Spanish design on Gibraltar, and it is not necessary for Tyrawly to go to Madrid as he wanted (S.P.89/35, f.121). What he should do, is to try to find out whether Kings of Spain and Portugal negotiated anything to the prejudice of Great Britain when they met on the frontier.
Date and place: 1729 Jan 28 London.
