Folio 282: Dormer's clarification and defence of his action in ordering his servants to drag Burnett from his chaise and beat him publicly in the streets. The incident more strongly resented by the Portuguese government as it happened on King John V's birthday, andall the nobility were pre-disposed in Burnett's favour by his `artful and malicious insinuations.' Protests he was only driven to this extremity by Burnett's intolerable provocations. Written in third person and unsigned.
