Folio 262: Arthur Stert to Charles Delafaye. Grateful for his patronage and friendship. Is now resigned to not getting the consulship, though at first a little peevish at both `the two great men [i.e. Newcastle and the Earl of Northampton], the one for desiring andthe other for consenting to break every strong promise made me.' Problems over prizes, including the French ship with timber for Spain (ff.97, 99). King John V delighted at final contracts for the royal marriages. Is sending him some seeds and trees for his country estate.
