Folio 212: Thomas Burnett to Duke of Newcastle. His sorrow at death of George I and joy at accession of George II. Problems in the cessation of hostilities and mutual restitution of prizes between Britain and Spain. Dutch warships with present for Dey of Algiers. Is told Compton has ordered his Deputy to act in his stead, but this cannot be done legally, since Burnett's patent as Consul-General is registered in the Portuguese Chancery and can only be revoked by another expressly sent for this purpose.
