Folio 30: Thomas Burnett to Duke of Newcastle. Portuguese Brazil ships sailed from Lisbon to Oporto. Promotion of the Marquis of Fonteira. Marquis of Abrantes' departure for Madrid fixed for 25 Feb. but he thinks it may be delayed yet again. Even if the Pope does make Bichi a Cardinal, there will be difficulties about reopening the papal nunciature at Lisbon. British naval movements. Encloses copies of correspondence with Dormer about the imposition of a new tax on British merchants (ff.32-33v).
