Folio 28: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Acknowledges receipt of orders to keep a sharp eye on Spanish activities at Cadiz, but despite threatening moves against Gibraltar and reported privateer activities, thinks that all may end peacefully now that Austria has accepted French proposals. Reported from Rome that Pope will make Bichi a cardinal in the next general promotion. If true, this will settle the long-standing dispute with Rome to the King of Portugal's satisfaction. King has allowed several of the banished fidalgos to change their place of residence. Death of the old Duke of Cadaval.
