Folio 133: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Another secret interview with the Infante Dom Francisco, in which latter assured him that King John V was pro-Spanish, and that the only way to keep him from a hostile attitude to Great Britain would be to send a strongfleet, complete with bombships, to appear off Lisbon. The Prince also hinted that he would like to marry one of the British royal princesses, which was why he had sent his secret emissary (Supico de Morães) to London. Dormer's cautious and guarded attitude to these astonishing overtures, and his assurance to the Prince that he would keep this information as `an inviolable secret.'.
