Folio 129: Thomas Burnett to Duke of Newcastle. Sensation caused by news of the seizure of Duke of Ripperda in the British ambassador's house at Lisbon (Cf. S.P.89/32, ff.78-84). Portuguese ministers are being very cautious in their reaction. King George's birthdaycelebrated with a great party and ball given by Dormer at the embassy. Dutch claim to have driven ashore one Algerine, sunk another, and taken a third. Portuguese warships fitting out.
