Folio 57: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. His discussions with the Secretary of State and efforts to `dissuade this Court from entering into any new engagements with the Emperor and Spain.' Despite Mendonça Corte-Real's denials that nothing will be done which will disadvantage British trade he is still suspicious of Portuguese intentions. Hopes Cabinda dispute can be amicably settled. Departure of Bahia Fleet.
