Folio 40: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Unity between King George and his Parliament will undoubtedly impress the Portuguese and he has given the Marquis of Abrantes a translated copy of King's speech and Parliament's address of thanks. British merchants wereat last given permission to send an advice-boat to Brazil (f.43), but as they had already sent their notification via the Azores, this was too late to be of use. Shows Court is very reluctant to let any British ship go to Brazil despite treaty rights to do so. His correspondence with Secretary of State over the Royal African Company and the Cabinda affair (f.45), and his conversation with Secretary of State on same. Proposals to `revise the coin' are under discussion but nothing decided yet.
