Folio 349: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Very favourable impression made on King and Secretary of State by King George's decision to surrender Spelman, who will be handed over at Lisbon. Another unpleasant incident has been narrowly avoided by the decision of Captain George Purvis, R.N. to surrender some Moorish slaves who had escaped from the royal stables to his ship. Sends copy of relevant correspondence (ff.351-52), and suggests Admiralty should issue some guidelines on such cases. Birthday of the Infanta Dona Maria celebrated with great splendour by Court and Spanish ambassador.
Date and place: 1725 Dec 15 Lisbon.
