Folio 309: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Conclusion Spanish-Portuguese royal marriage treaty very gratifying to King of Portugal, but `the people in general show no great joy at it.' King's Messenger (f.296) still imprisoned, and Dormer thinks the good relations now existing between Spain and Portugal will make the latter more difficult for the English to deal with. Dansaint's African (Corisco) Company warmly approved by the Court, but no merchants will subscribe to it, so it may well fail.
