Folio 291: James Dormer to Duke of Newcastle. Encloses copies of correspondence with Secretary of State over the arrest of the King's Messenger and the previous seizure of Spelman (ff.296-302). The Innkeeper, Henry Green, used to decoy the latter, now in peril of his life from the indignant Irish community. Recapitulates his arguments with the Secretary of State, but the Portuguese are taking a stiff line. Arrival of a richly laden Bahia Fleet and two warships from India with many diamonds.
