Folio 180: Abbé de Livry to Diogo de Mendonça Corte-Real. Since King of Portugal refuses to allow his Secretary of State to make the first visit, the King of France concludes that the former does not want a French ambassador at Lisbon and the Abbé has therefore been ordered to leave and requests his passports. Moreover, although King Louis XV has always treated with the greatest consideration the two Portuguese envoys now at Paris, he will withdraw diplomatic recognition from them and treat them only as honoured private individuals as soon as the Abbé has left Portugal.
Date and place: 1725 Jan 15 Lisbon.
