Description

Folio 178: Thomas Saunderson to Duke of Newcastle. Abbé de Livry has taken his departure for Madrid after an exchange of letters with Secretary of State, copies of which are enclosed (ff.180-2). The Abbé's conduct has been warmly approved by Court of France. Falmouth packet-boat long overdue; fears it may have been taken by Barbary Corsair. At his request, H.M.S. Ludlow Castle has been detached to cruise against pirates and protect British shipping.
