Folio 117: Thomas Burnett to Duke of Newcastle. Franco-Portuguese quarrel over protocol still persists. Count of Pinos, Imperial envoy, asked for permission for homeward-bound Ostend Indiamen to visit Brazilian ports, but met with a flat refusal. Is now negotiatinga commercial treaty on lines of those which Portugal has with its allies. Departure of the three Maltese warships after a kind reception by King and Infante Dom Francisco.
