Folio 241: Thomas Burnett to Lord Carteret. Is sending his letters to Hanover by way of Diogo de Mendonça Corte-Real's son, envoy at the Hague. News from Spain `that all warlike preparations were entirely laid aside.' Portuguese and British naval activities. Dispute between King John V and Pope over a Cardinal's hat for ex-Papal Nuncio, Bichi, still smouldering. Report of hostilities between British of Bombay and Portuguese of Baçaim. Court news.
