Folio 213: Thomas Burnett to Lord Carteret. Details of a scheme for exporting Negro slaves from West Africa to Brazil (f.196), which he did not originally take seriously, but King of Portugal now seems to be interested in it. Originally a Franco-Portuguese private project, the French Court have denounced it and ordered all French participants to withdraw. Reported that negotiations for a Franco-Portuguese commercial treaty may soon begin. News from Spain.
